About Sol Rites
Est. 2023
“Sol Rites” means rituals of light. They are simple, meaningful rhythms woven throughout the day that guide children through learning, connection, and growth.
These rituals are grounded in child development, inspired by Montessori and Waldorf education, and designed to help children feel safe, capable, and deeply connected to the world around them.
Each day follows a gentle, intentional flow where learning unfolds through consistent, nurturing experiences. The children engage in a wide range of subjects, including:
Culinary arts and baking
Handwork (sewing, weaving, clay, needle-felting, jewelry making, & more)
Music, guitar, solfege, and sound drums
Language and early literacy
Mathematics through hands-on play
Nature-based science and gardening
Breathwork
Yoga
Martial arts
Social-emotional learning and conflict resolution
Creative play, storytelling, and dance
These experiences are thoughtfully repeated and built upon, creating a rhythm that helps children feel secure while naturally expanding their skills and confidence.
You might smell yeast and honey as dough is mixed by hand, harvest basil from the garden for homemade pizza, or hear children singing together as they transition between activities. After yoga, warm lavender towels and calming sound bowls create a peaceful reset before moving into the next part of the day.
All of this unfolds in a space where emotions are named, supported, and respected... Where children learn how to set boundaries, repair conflict, take turns, and celebrate themselves while honoring others.
For many children, the preschool season is their first experience of being apart from their parents. At Sol Rites Schoolhouse, we hold that transition with great care.
Our schoolhouse environment is rooted in warmth, creativity, play, and emotional safety. Here, children experience that the world is good, that they are safe, and that they are always cared for and returned to.
This foundation of secure attachment and emotional trust becomes the beginning of lifelong confidence, resilience, and relational intelligence.
